DZOFILM Arles 18mm T1.4 – Full-Frame/VV Cine Prime Lens for PL (metric)

Fast cine primes for large format

The DZOFILM Arles series, named after the French town that inspired Van Gogh, comprises 11 full-frame primes from 14 to 180 mm, most at T1.4. Their 46.5 mm image circle covers VistaVision, so they work with large-format cameras such as the RED V-RAPTOR VV, ARRI Alexa Mini LF or Sony VENICE 2.

Light and depth at T1.4

At T1.4 they excel in low light and give very shallow depth of field with even brightness wide open, including at high frame rates. The field-curvature design gives smooth transitions between sharp and soft areas.

Character wide open

The 16-blade iris keeps bokeh round. Wide open the image is soft and low-contrast with a slight swirl at the edges that adds emotion; stopping down brings sharpness and contrast.

Consistent colour, controlled flares

A blue-tinted multi-layer nano coating controls flare and ghosting, and colour temperature stays around 5000 K across the series so shots cut together. Internal sandblasting and anodising reduce reflections, and the front element has a protective coating against dust and dirt.

Careful optics, no breathing

The 14, 18, 21 and 25 mm use two aspherical elements, and the whole series uses low-dispersion glass to limit chromatic aberration. Floating elements reduce aberrations from infinity to close focus and keep breathing to a minimum.

Built for set

All share a 95 mm front, M86 filter thread and 0.8 MOD gears in the same position, so lenses swap without readjusting follow focus or matte box. At 1.4–1.9 kg they suit gimbals, Steadicam and drones. DZOFILM tests them to 100,000 cycles and 1,000 Hz vibration. Dual metric/imperial scale, PL, EF and LPL mounts, and compatible with KOOP magnetic rear filters.
