EIZO's ColorEdge PROMINENCE HDR reference monitors are the first to overcome the serious drawbacks of other commercially available HDR technologies so they can be used reliably for post-production work.

The Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL) equipped on other OLED HDR monitors limits the monitor's ability to display lighter scenes with tones in a specific range. This results in those lighter areas appearing dimmer and the color duller.

Local dimming uses an area control backlight system that adjusts brightness in sections of the screen according to the content being displayed. However, when an object on the screen falls outside the area of the backlight that is adjusted, a "halo" effect appears, making it impossible to achieve full color accuracy in the smallest details.

EIZO's ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 achieves a true HDR viewing experience without ABL or local dimming to ensure you always see accurate colors and brightness in every pixel.

Gamma Curves

ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 supports two gamma curves used in HDR video: hybrid log-gamma (HLG) and perceptual quantization (PQ) curve. HLG is compatible with SDR displays and is suitable for live TV broadcasting.

The PQ curve approximates the human visual system in terms of color and light perception, making it ideal for movies, broadcast and other video content.

Both gamma curves were standardized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) as ITU-R BT.2100.

In addition, the PQ curve was standardized by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) as ST-2084.

Built-in sensor for workflow automation

ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 is the world's first HDR reference monitor equipped with a built-in sensor that calibrates the monitor to maintain color accuracy. This eliminates the need for a third-party calibration device and streamlines color management so you can focus more on the creative process.

Calibration information is stored directly on the monitor, so you don't need to recalibrate if connected to more than one PC.

ColorNavigator 7 Color Management Software

ColorNavigator 7 is the latest version of the calibration and quality control software for ColorEdge color management monitors.

It combines all the features of EIZO's previous color management software ColorNavigator 6 and ColorNavigator NX, to create a new and improved solution for creatives in a variety of fields.

The patented software simplifies calibration and produces predictable results for photography, design, printing and video creation.

High brightness and contrast

ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 achieves a high brightness level of 1000 cd/m2 required for displaying HDR content. It also offers a typical contrast ratio of 1,000,000: 1 to display true blacks.

DCI 4K resolution

ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 displays the DCI-4K standard (4096 x 2160), which is more than four times that of Full HD (1920 x 1080). It is ideal for creating, editing and referencing 2D and 3D CGI, visual effects, compositing and color grading.

SDI Connectivity

The ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 is equipped with a Single-Link 12G / 6G / 3G / HD-SDI and Dual or Quad-Link 3G * / HD-SDI connections for seamless 4K video data transmission.

The SDI connections support 2SI (2-sample interleaving) to ensure that the image is always maintained during transmission.

VPID (Video Payload ID) is also supported on SDI connections.

Flexible Connection

In addition, the monitor has an HDMI and DisplayPort input conveniently located on the side of the monitor for flexible connection to a variety of video devices. It is also equipped with four USB upstream ports and one downstream port.

Video Compatibilities

The monitor's HDMI and DisplayPort inputs support DCI 4K at 60p. The HDMI input supports 12-bit 4: 2: 2 at 50 / 60p and the DisplayPort input supports up to 10-bit 4: 4: 4 at 50 / 60p.

Wide color gamut

Wide color gamut faithfully reproduces 99% of the DCI-P3 standard used in post-production for faithful color reproduction.

3D LUT for accurate color display

3D LUT technology is included when you adjust colors individually in an RGB table. The 3D LUT also enhances color mixing (RGB blending), which is an important factor in the ability to display neutral grays.

Stable display using industry-first AI (Artificial Intelligence)

The color and brightness of an LCD monitor can vary due to changes in ambient temperature and the temperature of the monitor itself.

ColorEdge CG series monitors are equipped with a temperature sensor to accurately measure the temperature inside the monitor, as well as estimate the temperature of the environment.

With this temperature sensing and estimation technology, the monitor adjusts in real time so that gradations, color, brightness and other characteristics continue to be displayed accurately.

In addition, EIZO uses AI (artificial intelligence) * in the CG3146's estimation algorithm, so it can distinguish between various patterns of temperature change to calculate an even more accurate correction.

Stable color in just 3 minutes

A typical monitor takes 30 minutes or more to stabilize its brightness, chromaticity and hue characteristics. The ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 takes only 3 * minutes to obtain a reliable color display shortly after turning on the monitor.

Uniformity across the entire screen

LCD monitors commonly exhibit fluctuations in brightness and chromaticity across the screen, affecting color accuracy.

To counteract this, ColorEdge monitors are equipped with EIZO's patented Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE) technology that corrects deviations in every hue on the screen to ensure a stable display.

Multiple preset color modes

ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 provides quick access to several preset standard color modes from the OSD menu. Available modes are BT.2020, BT.709, DCI-P3, PQ_BT.2100, PQ_DCI-P3, HLG_BT.2100, Calibration and SYNC_SIGNAL.

Automatic color settings

To ensure that color settings remain constant during production, ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 includes a sync signal function that automatically adjusts monitor settings, such as input range and input color format, according to the video signal.

Luminance alert

ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 includes a function that displays areas of the image that cannot be displayed correctly at the current brightness setting. These areas are marked in yellow or magenta and can be viewed for brightnesses of 300, 500, 1000 and 4000 cd/m2.

4K zoom

Zoom in on areas of the screen to confirm fine details and verify focus accuracy on images with the 4K zoom function. It can be accessed quickly and easily with the monitor's front buttons.

BT.709 Out of Gamut Alert

The monitor includes a gamma alert preset that, when selected, indicates areas of a BT.2020 image that cannot be reproduced with BT.709 by converting them to shades of gray. An additional mode called BT.709 Clipping allows the editor to view BT.2020 images within the BT.709 color space, simulating how they would be viewed by your audience in an HDTV environment.

Adjustable front dial

The front bezel of the monitor includes a dial to quickly and easily navigate the OSD menu or adjust monitor settings such as brightness.

Flicker-free viewing

Due to the way brightness is controlled in the LED backlight, a small number of people notice a flicker on their display causing eye fatigue.

ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 regulates the brightness so that flicker is not noticeable without inconvenience such as compromising color stability.

Visor for light protection

The monitor comes bundled with a light protection visor that effectively prevents glare on the screen caused by ambient lighting. The visor parts connect magnetically for quick and easy setup.

Built-in carrying handles

Two handles on the back allow a firm grip for carrying or moving the monitor.

5-year warranty

The 5-year manufacturer's warranty covers all components, including the LCD panel. EIZO can guarantee a long service life because it manufactures its products in its own factories, ensuring strict control over production quality.

Usage time is limited to 30,000 hours (10,000 hours for the LCD panel).

Zero Bright Pixels

EIZO guarantees that this product will be free of bright sub-pixels for six months from the date of purchase.

Brightness and Color Warranty

The brightness and color of the ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 is warranted for up to 10,000 hours from the date of purchase. When used at a color temperature of 6500 K, a brightness level of at least 800 cd / m2 is guaranteed.

In addition to the ColorEdge PROMINENCE CG3146 HDR reference monitor, EIZO offers optional HLG and PQ curves for many of its current CG series monitors.

The optimized gamma curves make images appear more faithful to how the human eye perceives the real world compared to SDR. These products will support the HDR workflow from shooting to color grading.
